援助非洲饑荒的大型音樂活動
當時許多英國的歌手灌唱Do They Know It's Christmas?單曲
並舉辦Band Aid的演唱會，引發全世界關注的焦點與迴響
還將發行單曲所得的金額用來賑災非洲饑荒
隔年，1985年在大西洋另一岸的美國
由Michael Jackson、Lionie Richie等人的號召發起下
美國的USA For Africa-We Are The World援非活動於是誕生
許多美國當時知名的歌手都共襄盛舉
一同灌錄We Are The World這首歌
這就是We Are The World得由來.
